Get your year started with some effective oral language activities to stimulate children talking, questioning skills, reporting skills, dialogue, descriptive language which will all lead into great writing.

A great oral language activity is mystery bag.  Put a selection of objects unknown to the children into a mystery bag.  Selected children choose an object out of the bag to describe in detail and describe its use.  Hopefully they will not know what the object is and creatively invent a use for it.  Activity can be taken into sketching the object and the class writing a description for the object without stating its use.
